Seaside Adventures... age-appropriate, exciting, hands-on projects introducing essential concepts of oceanography, marine biology, and environmental science. Each day students are asked to think of 'essential questions' related to the program's theme. Students are then given opportunities to reflect upon or discuss their understandings based upon their experiences.
Seaside Adventures is based on the belief that important academic understandings can be gained by engaging in "playful" activities. Explorative play gives rise to essential questions - questions that form the basis for constructing knowledge. This constructivist approach to science is at the core of the Seaside Adventures curriculum.
   Program open to students completing 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grades*


12-15 students per group
Student teacher ratio: 5:1

*   Current 3rd graders are offered an 8-10 am class for Session II only.
** Note Session III is am only

Beachcomber (session I): A fun and interesting look at local beach compositions, the tides, and activities along the shoreline.

Under the Sea (session II): Build aquariums. Explore ocean dwellers from creepy crawlers to slippery sliders.

Explorers (session III): Exciting activities caring for our special critters that dwell in the ocean and freshwater ponds.
