The Center for Student Coastal Research actively educates and involves students in local environmental projects. We are grateful for community support and proud of our accomplishments: - Over 14 projects in 4 communities;
- Over the past 6 years several students were awarded scholarships (the prestigious Henry David Thoreau scholarship for 4 years of college) and grants (from Marjot
Foundation to investigate the role of bacteria in sediment);
- State approval of our Quality Assurance Project Plan
signifying our practices meet rigorous standards;
- New CSCR programs: Coastal Investigations, Junior Marsh Monitors, and Student Staff Leadership Development;
- Watershed
Academy, evening and after school classes such as ArcGIS training,
in the non-summer months;
- Selected as a Microsoft
Partner in Learning to advance science, technology,
engineering, and math;
- Selected by Massachusetts
Office of Coastal Zone Management to
continue monitoring critical salt marshes.
We have accomplished all of this without ever charging our Summer Institute Research Students a fee to participate!
Today, we need your support.
